Good Grub Club
The Pied Piper,
Eureka Springs
I drive by this
place all the
time but have
never stopped in
in the 14 years I
have lived here
‘cause I always
thought it was
more a bar with
sandwiches than a
place to get good
vittles and
fixins. Well a
while back a
friend says,
“Herb you ought
to give em a try
cause they have
good grub.” Well
me and the little
lady goes in last
week not knowing
what to expect
and we find us a
spot out on the
deck. I have to
admit I sure
enjoyed the deck,
great atmosphere.
Well we look the
menu over and I
tell ya I aint
seen this kind a
grub on any other
menu in town.
Lots a Irish
dishes that I
wern’t familiar
with but me and
the wife got a
spirit of
adventure ‘bout
us. Well in a bit
Cindy the
waitress comes
over with a big
smile on her
pretty face and
takes our order,
Dublin Coddle and
Fish and Chips.
Now the wife says
ta me the Coddle
wernt much ta her
liking. I figure
good cause that
means I get to
have her plate
and mine. So much
fer figurin cause
it wernt long
till I look over
and heck, her
Dublin Coddle
were dern near
all gone. I says
I thought you
didn’t like it.
She just takes
another bite,
didn’t leave much
fer me at all.
Well the Fish and
Chips were real
good; best I had
‘bout these
parts. Anyhow the
meal was fun and
well served.
I ask Cindy ta
give us the
reason fer the
Cathouse name on
her shirt. She
sorta smiles and
says back in the
early days Oh
bout 1890’s or so
part a this place
were a house fer
the ladies of the
evening, if ya
know what I mean.
I notice the
little woman eye
balling me so I
changes the
subject quick
like and Cindy
begins ta tell us
some ghost
stories bout the
place. Well the
Pied Piper Pub is
a little bit
different like so
many places in
Eureka. It adds a
little verity to
our choices on
what and where ta
eat. It’ll be a
fun place fer you
to try ifin ya
already aint
tried ‘er out.
Now yall have fun
now.
